This week was a really busy week for us as a companionship, we started with Zone Conference on Tuesday which of course was so good, we were able to to learn more on how we can find new investigators through family history and other assets that we have been so blessed with from the Lord to use e.g. pass along cards, so we have been putting that into action and have seen the blessings 🙂 after zone conference we planned then to go back to work. We met a little family and gave them a lesson and extended IBD to them and they didn’t accept they just said we just like “bible studying” and of course its sad to hear that but we press forward and taught an investigator which was a friend of the YSA boys and it was such a good lesson he had a lot of questions, we extended the IBD and he accepted and said he might not make it for Saturday (thinking he would be baptized straight away) but it was such a great reminder how much the lord prepares people for us to teach even if we were rejected at first he then blessed us to cross paths with one of our brothers!! The week was just packed with lessons and it was good, i cant believe its Monday again!!

mamang sleeping is for the week lol
I just wanted to share with you something that I learnt from Personal Study because i am starting the Book of Mormon again I came across a verse in 1 Nephi 15:7-8 that stood out to me.This is the time where Nephi was explaining the vision that his father saw to his brothers and Laman and Lemuel being themselves still couldn’t understand it, and i really like the respnse from Nephi he said “have ye inquired of the Lord?” man it stood out to me because at times when people ask me questions I tend to just give an answer of what i “think” is right but instead I should be doing what Nephi did and ask if they have inquired of the lord- the know-er of all things!! I also came across another verse I would love to share in 1 Nephi 16:20-23 which is the time Nephi broke the bow and arrow and it is just an example of how people CHOOSE to react to trials, as we know Laman and Lemuel did murmur and even Lehi but what did Nephi do he got up and made himself a bow and arrow and asked his father where should i go, we choose how we want to react to trials, trials can either make us or break us it is all up to each one of us!! So please when things get a little hard or harder then before lets make something out of it just like Nephi 🙂

I am good i think i should of told you guys before but man my ankle is killing. It doesn’t help being a little heavier then before lol but im starting to get black things on the side of it, im too scared to say anything to President and Sister Hiatt because theres 2 sisters i have just met who have gone home because of problems on there ankles and knees so i guess i just have to do what Nephi did in 1 Nephi 18: 15-16 and just praise the Lord more haha.

baptism of Sister Lalaine Santos Gorembalom

how are you? how is work? thank you for working so hard for our family bishop and mum we are so blessed!!! how is everything at home? how is family prayer, scripture study and family home evening? man if there is one thing i actually really miss is family home evening so please don’t take it for granted as you are all together and can do it.

Well this week was a really good week, we had some good lessons and have found ourselves so busy that we end up rescheduling all the time, but the work is good and the days go by so fast, i cant even believe it is monday again!!! This week we were able to witness a miracle of the lord and see someone enter the waters of baptism. Sister Lalaine Santos Gorembalom is a part member who had been coming to church every Sunday, but surprisingly had no record.

Before when Sister Mafi and I were searching the part member’s list and saw her name we were both laughing thinking how is this girl not baptised. We then thought hectic we will have no problem getting her to church but giving her lessons would be hard. She can speak and talk to people but she cant read and really cant remember things, so that was a challenge for us and it really needed something that i lack in and that is PATIENCE!!  oh man how this lady taught me patience. I remember our first lesson with her Sister Mafi and i walked out and just looked at each other just smiling (knowing each others thoughts) and just said “toko kataki” haha and that was the motto, every companionship study role play was on her and every thought was on how we could get her to remember the doctrine of Christ and help her prepare for the baptismal interview. I wont lie it really did test my patience, at times i honestly wanted to give up but we did see the hand of the Lord and his tender mercies for her to remember things that we taught that even at times surprised her mum.  It was such a good simple service, sad her parents didn’t attend but her brother did which was good at least one was there to support her. I am so thankful to be a servant of the Lord in this great work, helping others to come unto Christ, there is so much that i was able to learn and still learning about patience and thinking outward and i know its something I need to work on to.

I just wanted to share a quote that President Dieter. F . Uchtodorf shared “Patience is not passive resignation, nor is it failing to act because of fears. Patience means active waiting and enduring. It means staying with something and doing all that we can working, hoping and exercising faith, bearing hardship with fortitude, even when the desires of our hearts are delayed. Patience is not simply enduring it is enduring well!! Patience is a godly attribute that can heal souls, unlock treasures of knowledge and understanding, and transform ordinary men and women into saints and angels. Patience is truly a fruit of the spirit. Patience means delaying immediate gratification for future blessings. It means reining in anger and holding back the unkind word. It means resisting evil, even when it appears to be making others rich.” If we want to be angels and saints of the lord, it all starts with Patience the “godly attribute”.

I was able to witness another experience that i would love to share which happened yesterday. I was able to work with the Relief Society and we went on splits, anyways while visiting teaching we went to one of the less-actives, we heard music and found out it was her birthday, the less-active called us in and told us to eat for her birthday. I was a little hesistant because there was music but we went up any ways. I have never felt so uncomfortable in my life, just watching everyone around me sing, dance and just all of it happening on the day of the sabbath was sad to watch. I said a quick prayer and just asked for forgiveness for all the times at home I broke the sabbath, because man it was so weird to be in an environment like that yesterday and it reminded me of that scripture in Alma 31:10 of how the Nephites started becoming wicked because “they would not observe the performances of the church, to continue in prayer and supplication to God daily” making them fall into the temptations of the Lord. It was sad to see but just happy for them that we have a loving Heavenly Father who gave us his only son to atone for our sins knowing we are not perfect, so it gives them an opportunity to repent!! But please keep the sabbath day holy!!!!

This week was a good week. We had some good lessons and we were able to visit the furthest area which was good. The weather has been all over the place being really hot one day and then cold another so making the work a little more fun and in-predicative. this week i was able to learn a lot new lessons and experiences and one i would like to share with you today.

Being a missionary i get to see things that i probably would not have noticed when if i was at home.  My eyes are more open to Priorities and what things we as followers of Christ should Prioritize eg. the Spiritual Things. I was studying this week on desires and came across the quote from Elder Dallin H. Oaks said ” Desires dictate our priorities, priorities shape our choices, and choices determine our actions. The Desires we act on determine our changing, our achieving and our becoming.  He spoke on how sometimes we override desires with other desires that we consider more important. E.g. we are tired from work but we get up to go to church to keep the commandments of god because following The Lord is more important then sleeping. Our actions always depend on what our desires are and at times we may need to re evaluate ourselves and think where are my desires at right now, to help us stay align to the will of the Lord. I wish i did a better job at keeping my desires right at home but it is something we can all learn. We need to always desire for spiritual things. Praying (as a family and individually), Reading the Scriptures especially our Book of Mormon and Keeping the Sabbath Day Holy. Someone once said “i knew of someone who always did these things and i always wondered how because i knew at once that she didn’t have time, but she MADE time.” And thats something we can all do to improve our relationship with our father and our actions also as it always starts with desires!!!

FHE with our recent converts they made me maruya (its like keke vai with banana another reason Im never going to lose weight here)
How are you both? how is everything at home? I can tell from your emails despite the funerals that everyone is so happy at home especially with the win from tonga haha!! It is good that everyone is good at home from what I hear and that everything is starting to get back in to order especially now Bishop has a new job.  How is Scripture Reading? Family prayer? and family home evening?

Well this last week, was a good productive week, we had a lot of appointments and at times i feel so stressed and just overwhelmed just wanting to be superwomen and go and visit everyone and try and do everything, But the lord has reminded time after time of his timing and will for things, so i am just constantly reminded of his great plan!!
This week we were able to witness one of our sisters enter the waters of baptism her name is: Rosela Pajulio i remember when we first taught her she actually was a referral given to us from one of the members. I was with Sister Mafi and of course being a referral from a member we contacted her straight away. She was so shy and abit hesitant but she was still welcoming we also found out that she has two brothers who too are part of the church and are sealed to there families and one of them is a Bishop in their ward in Leyte another part of the Philippines. Ever since the day we met her way back in August she never missed a day of church and came to church every Sunday,  As weeks went by we taught and she was getting comfortable starting to pray, we tried teaching her partner now but he is “too shy” so we focused on her and she has really grown!! Last Monday after emailing we went to her and taught her. Before we started I asked how are you feeling now that this Saturday you are going to be baptized and she just started crying and just hugging me saying thank you!!! The spirit was so strong. Fast forward to her baptismal interview and because President Hiatt has to interview her because of her situation I was a little nervous because her english is not that great and she is super shy. President Hiatt was so busy with new transfers and everything that we didn’t know if he had time this week, so with a lot of prayers and fasting we got a date and time and of course she passed her interview!! Then came the baptismal service it was such a simple but spirit felt service, she bore her testimony it was a pure testimony and the spirit was so strong!! She is a bear testimony of how much the members can help in missionary work, if we never received the referral and if the member didn’t fellowship her to come to church I could have never gotten this far this fast but with the hard work of members and faith in the Lord the work progresses!! I am just an instrument, but i was so grateful to be in the hand of his great work this great work of the Lord!!! I love and miss her so much, she has gone to drop her kids off to her home place to come back and then wait to leave to Dubai to pursue her career so super blessed to have met her and I can’t wait till she comes back!!

With everything that happened this week I just wanted to share something with you that I have come to appreciate so much. That is the sacrament. Being born in the covenant and going to church partaking of the sacrament at times sometimes feels like “well here it goes again the bread and water” but coming on the mission and really appreciating it makes the sacrament or that hour something so different, when our thoughts are centred in Christ. Something I want to share was something I studied this week back when Jesus Christ was about to enter the Garden of Gethsemane he said to Peter, James and John (Matt:26:38) “tarry ye here, and watch with me.” then he came back and found them asleep and said to them in verse 40 “what could ye not watch with me one hour” he actually done this three times and came back and found them asleep. I was thinking when I first read it “hut guys Peter, James and John they couldn’t even wait one hour hoi” haha but then it made me think of the sacrament, in the one hour we have, the most important hour in our week, how can we not give it to Christ. And man i straight away knelt on my knees and repented all the times i had played around, been on my phone or talking when i could of “tarried there and watched with the Savior.” Family its not hard to put the phone off for 1 hour to watch with the Savior it is not hard to talk after sacrament it is not hard to remember someone who has done and doing so much for each of us!!! Family can you please this week “tarry ye here, and watch with me.” I know the sacrament will mean more to you as you all do this as it is not just bread and water!!

Bishop and mum this week I was thinking of home for a little one morning because the talk now among the missionaries is skype haha so i got myself caught up in the thought and then of fefin but it was a good reminder of why I am here. I am thankful for all your hard work each and every day there is not a day or a lesson I don’t mention how much I love my family!! Thank you for all your hard work and for being worthy of your callings!! I love you both more then you could imagine!!  Please continue to Pray as a family and Read as a family everyday and Have FAMILY home evening I cant express how much this can strengthen our family in Christ!!!
